Our host for the fifth AFMAC workshop in Cape Town, South Africa was Chimurenga, a pan-African platform of writing, art, and politics founded by Ntone Edjabe in 2002. Drawing together a myriad of voices from across Africa and its diaspora, Chimurenga operates as an innovative space for free ideas and political reflection about Africa by Africans.
Its outputs span a journal of culture and politics, a quarterly broadsheet called The Chronic, the Chimurenga Library—an ongoing reinvention of knowledge production and the archive—the African Cities Reader, and the Pan African Space Station, an online radio station and pop-up studio.
